Single-Molecule Resonance Raman Spectroscopy

چکیده

Near-field Raman spectroscopy has attracted significant attention as a tool for performing chemical analysis with submolecular spatial resolution. The mechanism in atomic and molecular scale spectroscopy, however, is not well understood due to the strong perturbation of molecule during measurements previous studies. In particular, resonance effect that greatly enhances scattering been clarified on single scale. Here we demonstrate single-molecule imaging scanning tunneling microscope (STM) at resolution copper naphthalocyanine molecules. our experiment, an ultra-thin insulating NaCl film used substrate keep undisturbed condition precise analysis. We have succeeded by tuning excitation wavelength intrinsic electronic transitions molecule. This makes it possible acquire accurate spectra short measurement time sensitivities. maps show three different distribution patterns depending symmetry vibration modes. These results are explained considering interaction between electromagnetic field plasmon tip-substrate gap symmetry, thereby selection rule plasmon-enhanced resonant established.

Single-molecule surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy.

A general overview of the field of single-molecule (SM) surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) as it stands today is provided. After years of debates on the basic aspects of SM-SERS, the technique is emerging as a well-established subfield of spectroscopy and SERS. SM-SERS is allowing the observation of subtle spectroscopic phenomena that were not hitherto accessible. Examples of the latter...

Single-molecule surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy with nanowatt excitation.

We demonstrate the possibility of single molecule (SM) detection via surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) in two seemingly challenging and unexpected cases: first with ultra-low excitation powers of the order of nanowatts and second in as-synthesized and not deliberately-aggregated silver colloid solution. The experiments are carried out using the bi-analyte method on a methylated form of...

Comment on ”Scanning-probe Raman spectroscopy with single molecule sensitivity”

We reinterpret the scanning-probe Raman spectra shown in the above paper [C.C. Neacsu et al., Phys. Rev. B 73, 193406 (2006)] and compare it to a variety of single-molecule surface-enhanced Raman (SER) studies. The observed blinking behaviour and spectral features must be attributed to carbon contaminations rather than to Malachite Green (MG) single molecules, because, under the given experimen...

Resonance Raman Spectroscopy of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

The unusual one-dimensional properties of phonons in crystalline arrays of carbon nanotubes is presented. The main technique for probing the phonon spectra is Raman spectroscopy and the many unique and unusual features of the Raman spectra of carbon nanotubes are highlighted. Various features of the first-order Raman spectra are emphasized, with regard to their 1D behavior and special character...
